JACKMAN, Maine — A man found sleeping inside a Jackman store was given a place to rest in jail Thursday morning when it was learned he reportedly broke in.

Randy Davis, 46, of Massachusetts apparently had been drinking before he fell asleep in an aisle at Bishop’s Store on Main Street, according to Chief Deputy Dale Lancaster of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.

Police were called to the store at 2:10 a.m. after the owner was notified by an alarm company that there was an intruder in the business, Lancaster said.

Shortly before sheriff’s deputies arrived, U.S. Border Patrol agents aroused Davis, who was found passed out in an aisle, Lancaster said.

Upon police arriving, Davis was arrested and charged with criminal mischief and criminal trespass, Lancaster said. He was brought to Somerset County Jail and later released on bail.
