ORRINGTON, Maine — A burglar’s attempted getaway was halted by snow early Thursday, and he wound up going to jail, police said.

Sheriff’s deputies went to Kings Mountain RC at 4 a.m. Thursday after a burglar alarm went off and a vehicle driven by Scott Buck, 30, of Howland appeared to have gotten stuck in the snow, according to Chief Deputy Troy Morton.

When deputies arrived, they discovered that the business’s owner had blocked the end of the driveway while Buck’s pickup truck remained bogged down in the snow, according to Morton.

The chief deputy said $1,100 in merchandise was found in Buck’s vehicle.

Buck was charged with burglary and theft and taken to Penobscot County Jail, where he remained Thursday afternoon.
