FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — A local woman was arrested Wednesday in connection with an April 2013 crash that killed an Aroostook County man.

Sherilyn Bennett, 50, was taken into custody at her residence without incident, according to Fort Fairfield Police Chief William Campbell.

Bennett is charged with manslaughter and operating under the influence causing a death in connection with an accident on April 29 of last year that killed Larry Sawyer, 42, of Fort Fairfield.

Sawyer was a passenger in Bennett’s vehicle.

Bennett was driving on North Caribou Road when she lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree, according to Campbell. Sawyer was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident was reconstructed by Maine State Police Trooper Robert Flynn while Fort Fairfield police Sgt. Shawn Newell was the lead investigator, the chief said.

Bennett is being held on $1,000 bail. A court date has not been set.
