SEARSPORT, Maine — Town firefighters were able to quickly contain an electrical fire at a residence Wednesday morning.

Crews were dispatched to the scene at 4 Union St. shortly before 10 a.m., Searsport Fire Chief Andy Webster said.

The electrical fire started in the basement of the two-story home, and crews were able to get it under control within five minutes, Webster said.

Searsport firefighters were the only ones who went to the home and were on scene for about an hour, Webster said.

The home was slightly damaged by smoke, Webster said.
