Parise Rossignol, Caribou’s Herbert and Easton’s Turner shine in Aroostook County all-star games

CARIBOU, Maine — Representatives from 17 schools gathered at Caribou High School on Monday night for the 24th annual Aroostook County Senior All-Star Games.

The Pink team scored a 62-60 victory over the Blue team in the girls game, while the Red squad outgunned the Blue team 125-113 in the boys contest.

In the girls game, Van Buren’s Parise Rossignol poured in 26 points to help the Pink team hold off the Blue. Melissa Cantafio of Limestone Community School/Maine School of Science and Mathematics tallied 12 points and Nicole Giberson of Fort Fairfield scored six for the winners.

Lauren Doak of Fort Kent paced the Blue squad with 11 points and Nicole Olson of Washburn tallied 10 points. Sable Altvater of Southern Aroostook High in Dyer Brook and Carsyn Koch of Washburn each added eight points.

In the boys game, the Red team overcame a 10-point halftime deficit to overcome the Blue club.

The Red team placed seven players in double figures, led by Presque Isle teammates Bradley Shields and Cody Lyford with 22 and 21 points, respectively. Van Buren’s Jake Rioux tossed in 17 and Houlton’s Nick Guiod had 16.

Cody Herbert of Caribou connected for a game-high 25 points to propel the Blue squad, with Hunter Turner of Easton close behind with 24. Derek Richardson of Caribou posted 16 points and Noah Bernard of Fort Fairfield added 15.

The game featured 33 3-point field goals, including five each from Lyford, Rioux and Herbert.
