ROCKLAND, Maine — The Rockland Planning Board last week approved applications for a fitness center and day care program to be located in the former Amalfi Restaurant space.

The businesses are proposed by Rockland Harbor Park LLC. They will be located next to where Rockland Harbor Park plans to build a four-story, 65-room upscale hotel on the waterfront. The company has yet to submit the formal application and plans for the hotel.

The renovations for the fitness center and day care are expected to be completed in six weeks.
