BANGOR, Maine — Bangor police charged a local woman with heroin possession Friday after they reportedly found four packet of the substance in her pocket during a pat down.

The search happened after Tamara Bullock, 31, of Bangor was arrested on nearly half a dozen active warrants.

The arrest took place about 9 p.m., when Bangor police Officer Taylor Bagley saw Bullock sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot of a Hammond Street convenience store, Bangor police Sgt. Cathy Rumsey said Monday in a news release.

Bagley believed that there were five active warrants for Bullock’s arrest, Rumsey said. Upon receiving confirmation that this was the case, Bagley placed Bullock under arrest.

During a search before Bullock was placed in a cruiser for a trip to Penobscot County Jail, Bagley allegedly found four packets of powder in Bullock’s pocket, which when field tested came back positive for heroin.

In addition to possession of an illegal drug, Bagley was charged with violating the conditions of her release from a prior arrest, Rumsey said. Bullock remained in the county lockup late Friday afternoon.

Bullock’s criminal history in the Bangor area goes back to at least 2011, when she was sentenced to 14 days in jail and ordered to pay $1,000 in restitution after being convicted to criminal mischief and assault.

Also in 2011, Bullock was sentenced to 48 hours in jail for failure to report.

In 2012, she was convicted to theft, for which she was fined $250.
