Jennie Nicholson Shorey

MILLINOCKET – Jennie Folsom Nicholson Shorey, 83, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at a local hospital surrounded by her family. Jennie was born in Millinocket, Sept. 10, 1930, the daughter of Lee and Ada (Hall) Folsom.
Jennie grew up in Millinocket, attended local schools and graduated from Stearns High School where she was the head majorette in the band. Shortly after high school Jennie married John Roger Nicholson, Sr. from Howland. Jennie held various jobs waitressing and bartending; and was active in the local Elks club as well as the American Legion Auxiliary. After Roger’s death Jennie met and married Bill Shorey. They traveled a lot and spent time at their camp on Cedar Lake, and spent winters in Florida and Georgia. Jennie was an avid Red Sox fan. Two of her highlights were visiting Fenway Park to watch her beloved Red Sox play and attending an Alan Jackson concert.
Jennie is survived by her children, Rod and wife, Lynn, Steve and wife, Kim, Debbie and boyfriend, Roland, John and wife, Marie, Kim and boyfriend, Steve; grandchildren, Diana, Eron, Michael, Brooke, Rachael, Krystal, Mellissa, Michelle, Jennifer, Jonathan, Miranda, Brett, and Travis; great grandchildren, Tavish, Saydrin, Martika, Kaylin, Colby, Collin, Laci, Bailey, Matthew, Riley, Abby, Trinity, Michael, and Jasalin. Jennie was 1 of 13 children. She is survived by just 2 brothers, Charles “Gus” and Lloyd “Luggie”; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Neanie Sawyer. In addition to her parents, Jennie was predeceased by first husband, Roger, second husband, Bill, and 10 brothers and sisters. The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the staff at Katahdin Health Care and Millinocket Regional Hospital for their loving care of Mom.
Friends may visit with the family Saturday, March 8 from 11a.m.-1 p.m. at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. with Deacon Bob Landry officiating.
