FORT KENT – Irvin N. Roy, 79, died peacefully March 6, 2014, surrounded by his family at a Fort Kent health care facility. He was born May 24, 1934, in Fort Kent, the son of Walter and Yvonne (Laferriere) Roy.
He was active in his community having served on the Fort Kent Town Council, School Board, and the St. Louis Parish Finance Board. He was an avid golfer. Irvin was a member of the VFW O’Grady Post No. 9609, the Senior Citizens Citizens Club, Lions Club, the Fort Kent Golf Club, all of Fort Kent. He was retired from the Army as Chief Warrant Officer 4.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Marie (Raymond) Roy of Fort Kent; one son, Curtis and wife, Vicki Roy, of Florida; three daughters, Karen and husband, Joe Lee Gonzales, of Rowlette, Texas, Deanna Paradis of Fort Kent, Sheila and husband, Tom Price, of Boxford, Mass.; nine grandchildren, Justin, Lauren, and Eryn, Roy, Amy, and Melissa Gonzales, Michael, and Aaron Paradis, Corey, Taylor, and Tucker Price; two great-grandchildren. Irvin was a devoted husband, father and member of his community. Irvin will be dearly missed by his many, many friends and family.
Friends may call 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, at Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent, until time of service. A Mass of Christian burial with full military honors will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Spring burial will be May 6, 2014, in the parish cemetery.
