Washington County grand jury indicts 2 men on drug charges

MACHIAS, Maine — A Washington County grand jury indicted two men on multiple drug charges Wednesday. The men had been arrested along with a woman in a drug raid last fall.

Randy Lee Preston, 47, of Roque Bluffs, whose home was raided, was indicted on six drug charges: one count each of unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs, aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs, aggravated unlawful furnishing of scheduled drugs, unlawful furnishing of scheduled drugs, unlawful possession of scheduled drugs and aggravated marijuana cultivation. He also was indicted on two counts of criminal forfeiture.

Stephen Lawrence Barnard, 51, of Marshfield was indicted on three drug charges: aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs, aggravated unlawful furnishing of scheduled drugs and unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Maine Warden Service conducted a joint raid of Preston’s home on Deer Run Road on Oct. 2.

Authorities seized approximately 7,875 milligrams of oxycodone, 34 marijuana plants, small amounts of other drugs, drug paraphernalia, four pistols, five long guns and more than $4,000 in cash, Sheriff Donnie Smith reported earlier.

Preston initially was charged with trafficking in oxycodone and marijuana cultivation and Barnard with aggravated trafficking in oxycodone.

Dawn Crocker, 34, of Roque Bluffs also was arrested in the drug raid and charged with furnishing oxycodone and possession of scheduled drugs.

The grand jury also handed down the following indictments on Wednesday:

Rebecca Cusing, 34, Pembroke, aggravated assault, criminal operating under the influence, driving to endanger.

James Dylan Hood, 19, Princeton, burglary, theft by unauthorized taking, criminal mischief.

Kevin A. Lawlor, 32, West Enfield, burglary, theft by unauthorized taking.

Christopher L’Heureux, 26, Machias, burglary, theft by unauthorized taking.

Eric McLean, 41, Lubec, failure to report an accident, two counts of operating after revocation, violation of condition of release, failure to appear.

Heather Sabattus, 28, Princeton, failure to report.
