BANGOR, Maine — City officials will host a meeting Thursday night at the Cross Insurance Center to talk about potential fixes for traffic problems Bangor has seen since the opening of the new arena and events center.

Before and after performances, traffic slows to a crawl on Main Street as people try to work their way to or from the Buck Street entrance to the arena. The city closed the Dutton Street entrance because traffic had been backing up onto Interstate 395.

Residents along Buck Street and other roads in the area also have aired concerns to city officials about the increase in traffic around their homes.

The public is invited to attend the meeting, which will be held at 6 p.m. in the suite-level lounge over the southwest entrance. Officials plan to listen to residents’ concerns and talk about steps that might ease traffic flow.
