Norma Reynolds Hampton

LUBEC – Norma Reynolds Hampton, 100, wife of the late Donald Hampton ,passed away March 2, 2014, at a Machias hospital. She was born July 17, 1913, in Lubec, the daughter of the late Frank Maurice and Eva (Knight) Reynolds.

She was a graduate of Lubec High School class of 1932. She then lived in California for many years before returning to Lubec. She worked for the Lubec School lunch program before becoming a beautician owning and operating her own shop for over 40 years. She became a member of the Lubec Congregational Church in 1948, where she was a member of the choir for 58 years, served on the Prudential Board, was a member of the Ladies Social Union, and Lubec Women’s Club serving as President and Secretary. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and Rebeccas for many years, and a member of the Quoddy Head Light Keepers. She loved music, and was part of many musical productions in Lubec.

She is survived by a daughter, Arrolyn (Farris) Miller and her husband, Robert, of Pembroke; a sister, Wilma “Billie” Ingallls of Machias; a granddaughter, Julie Lord of Lake Stevens, Wash.; a grandson, Todd Miller of Burke, Vt.; four great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; three stepdaughters, Valerie Harding, Janet Capaul, and Nancy Kogut of Falmouth, Mass. In addition to her parents and husband, Donald, she was predeceased by two brothers, Frank, and Robert Bryce Reynolds Sr.
