ORONO, Maine — An Old Town man is facing multiple charges after police said he broke into an Orono pizza shop early Sunday morning.

Joseph Doucette, 22, is accused of burglary, refusing to submit to arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia after allegedly breaking into the Orono House of Pizza, Orono police Chief Josh Ewing said.

Ewing said Doucette broke into the pizzeria through a window behind the business. Officers were called to the Park Street business shortly after 1 a.m.

Police surrounded the building and ordered Doucette out, Ewing said, and the man leaped through a closed window, shattering it, and took off running.

Doucette didn’t get far, as police subdued him a short time later, Ewing said. Doucette was not injured jumping through the window.

Doucette remained at Penobscot County Jail Monday morning.
