ELLSWORTH, Maine — Two motorists were injured when their vehicles collided in a near head-on crash Saturday night, police reported.
Michael Yurchick, 40, of Sedgwick, suffered a head injury, and Spencer Lincoln, 69, of Brooklin suffered a broken ankle, according to Ellsworth Police Sgt. Glen Moshier.
Both men were taken to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth. Yurchick’s injury was not life threatening, Moshier said Sunday.
The accident occurred on Surry Road between Sweet Fern Way and Colby Way and was reported about 7:15 p.m. Saturday.
Yurchick was driving a 2001 Chevrolet sport utility vehicle north on Surry Road, and Lincoln was driving a 2000 Volkswagen Golf south, reported Moshier.
The Chevrolet crossed the center line, Moshier said. Lincoln tried to evade the oncoming vehicle, but the Chevrolet continued across the center line and the vehicles collided.
The Chevrolet rolled over and came to a stop against a tree. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and were towed from the scene.
No charges were immediately filed.
