BANGOR – After a long illness, Wendell Gary Williams passed away Feb. 27, 2014. He was born Jan. 18, 1932.

Wendell attended Brewer High School and loved being part of their football team. He also loved to build as he built six homes in which he and his family lived in through the 1950s and 1960s. He became a Brewer Police Officer in the 1950s, and then went to work for the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad until he retired. He also worked for Sunoco traveling around the state and maintaining all their gas stations. He belonged to the Mason’s and then later on became a Shriner, in which he enjoyed being part of the Drum and Bugle Corp. He lived in Florida for 20 years before returning to Maine. His favorite things were Aurora, where his brother Vernon lived, good friends, and Baked Bean Suppers along with the occasional Turkey Supper in Frankfort.

He is survived by his wife and companion, Rita Williams of Bangor; two daughters, Lorinda Scott of Stetson, and Barbara Walshe of Corinna; and son, Terrance Hutchinson of California. He also leaves behind six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brother, Reginald Williams of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Hatch and Helen Williams of Brewer; his daughter, Bonnie L. Williams of Bangor; and his two brothers, Vernon Jordan of Aurora, and Merlin Williams of Brewer.

We would like to thank Janet and Frank Clancy for all the time, kindness, support and generosity in Wendell’s time of need.

At Wendell’s request there will be no services or funeral.
