FRANKFORT – Kirk Robert Poitras, 41, passed away peacefully Feb. 26, 2014, at a Bangor hospital. Kirk was born July 20, 1972, in Bangor, the son of Robert A. and Nancy (Dingle) Poitras.
Kirk was a 1991 graduate of Searsport High School and worked in several area garages and parts supply companies in the Bangor area. To say that Kirk was a car enthusiast was an understatement. He enjoyed building cars and taking them to car shows but loved none more than his Mustang. He enjoyed trains, NASCAR, woodworking and playing the drums, and in fact he could play all the songs off of the Collective Souls CD by heart. Kirk was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Parish and most often attended St. Gabriel’s Church, Winterport. Kirk will be remembered as a loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend.
Kirk is survived his loving parents, Robert and Nancy Poitras of Frankfort; sisters, Deborah Fletcher of Frankfort, and Tina Swift and husband, Stephen, of Vassalboro; his brother, Ricky Poitras and wife, Gail, of Eddington; nieces, Jennifer, Jamie, Chloe, Sarah, Susan, and Sally; as well as several aunts, uncles; and his best friend, Bryan Hinson. Kirk was predeceased by his paternal and maternal grandparents; nephews, Matthew and Michael Fletcher; and a niece, Claudia Swift.
Family and friends are invited to visit 5-7 p.m., Friday, March 7, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, March 8.
