ORONO – Alan Lester Pelletier, 73, died peacefully Feb. 26, 2014, at a Bangor hospital following a short illness. He was born May 9, 1940, in Old Town, a son of Lester and Dora (Dube) Pelletier.
Alan graduated from the University of Maine, Orono, in 1963 with a Bachelor’s degree in Education and was a teacher for many years before getting his Masters of Administration. He then continued his career in education as a principal in several school districts. Alan loved sports and early in his teaching career, he volunteered to manage a little league team where he excelled by winning league championships four or five consecutive years. He enjoyed teaching, from science to baseball, and he was very good at it.
Alan is survived by two loving daughters, Carrie Winslow and her husband, Brian, of Wilmington, Del., and Julie Guido and her husband, George, of West Chester, Pa.; grandchildren, Emily and Evan Winslow, and Gabrielle, Madeline, and Olivia and Jack Guido; a caring sister, Donna Brawn of Alexandria, Va.; a loving brother, Patrick Pelletier of Old Town; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and a caring sister, Faye Rose Hayes; and nephew, James Hayes.
