The general public in New England will now be able to send anonymous drug tips thanks to a new texting tip line.

The New England field of the Drug Enforcement Administration announced Wednesday that a texting tip line known as Tip411 is now up and running.

The line allows citizens to report drug trafficking, money laundering or other related suspicious activity.

The service can be used by texting 847411 on a mobile phone and the keyword DEADRUGS in the text field, followed by the tip. An agent will follow up, but the texter will remain anonymous.

The system is currently in use by law enforcement agencies across the country.
