Traci Lee Merriam

BUCKSPORT – Traci Lee Merriam died Feb. 23, 2014. Born Jan. 26, 1968, in Camden, she was the daughter of Joan and Fred Merriam.
The family resided in Bucksport. Traci graduated as valedictorian of her high school class and achieved both her Bachelor and Master degrees in education from University of Maine at Orono.
She is survived by her beloved son, Nicholas; mother, Joan Merriam; brothers, Jason and his wife, Amy, and Aaron and his wife, Julie; niece, Sarah; nephews, Carter, Parker, Oliver, Elliot, and Miles; aunts and uncles, Gil, Kendall and Phyllis, Marshall and Paula, Robert and Barbara, Joy and Robert Peters, Wayne and Caroline Morong, and Keta Martin; many cousins, Peter and Faith Carr; and her devoted fiancé, William Prescott. She was predeceased by father, Fred; grandparents, Paul and Doris Merriam, and Fred and Ruth Morong.
Traci’s love and devotion was channeled to raising her only son Nick. She was the most loving mother that anyone could ask for and was the best friend that anyone could ever have. Traci and Nick had a beautiful relationship that most people never get to experience. Nick is eternally grateful for the time he was able to spend with his mother.
Devoted to the art of teaching, Traci gave herself to the craft wholeheartedly during her 20 years teaching middle school in Bucksport, Camden, and Glenburn school systems. Her energy and enthusiasm in the classroom allowed her students to thrive and prosper under her guidance, despite recent governed changes which have tried to eliminate all creativity in the classroom. Traci faithfully devoted herself to her students both in and out of trouble and constantly went the extra mile to guide any child or their parents in the right direction for future success in school and life.
Traci loved spending time with family and friends in activities that revolved around the ocean. Time spent on Metinic, Criehaven and in the Mid-coast formed memories that she held close to her heart.
Friends and family are invited to gather in a celebration of Traci Merriam’s life noon March 1, at High Mountain Hall, Camden. A reception will follow with light refreshments.
