POLAND – Sandra L. Dunlap, 65, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014. She was born Dec. 17, 1948, in Caribou, a daughter of the late Joseph and Anita (Hebert) Chaloult.
She attended schools in Caribou, graduating from Caribou High School in 1966. She then furthered her education, attending The University of Maine in Orono, graduating in the class of 1970. She moved to central Maine in 1975 and on Feb. 21, 1981, she married the love of her life, Arthur Dunlap, in Auburn. In 1983, they moved into their house in Poland. Sandra was currently working for The Maine Public Broadcasting as a Website Producer. She was an active member of: Mt. Olivet Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star that merged with Pine Cone Chapter OES, Daughters of the Nile, White Shrine, Amaranth, Advisory Board of the International Order of Rainbow for Girls, Past Worthy Matron of Mt. Olivet, Past Grand Marshall of the Grand Chapter of Maine OES, Past District Deputy Grand Matron of the Grand Chapter of Maine OES. She was currently Chaplin of Pine Cone Chapter, Secretary of Dwinal Chapter, and Banker of Daughters of the Nile. She also was past secretary of the Poland Historical Society and a life member of the Poland Spring Preservation Society. In her very limited spare time she loved to knit and cross stitch.
Sandra is survived by her husband of 33 years, Arthur Dunlap; her brother, Thomas M. Chaloult and wife, Page, of Hermon and their children, Michael, Cassie, and Jennifer Chaloult; her sister, Karen Gallagher and husband, Jon, of Rockland and their children, Monica Gallagher and Sarah Pollard; sisters-in-law, Pauline Bockus, Barbara Johnson, and Carolyn Steele; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Anita Chaloult.
Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday, The Fortin Group/Plummer Merrill Funeral Home, Auburn. A Celebration of Life will be held 11 a.m. -2 p.m. March 8, at the Auburn Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St. An Eastern Star service will be performed at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sandra’s memory to: Greater Androscoggin Humane Society, 55 Strawberry Ave., Lewiston, ME. 04240.
