COLUMBIA – Mona M. Farren, 74, passed away Feb. 22, 2014, at Marshall Healthcare in Machias. She was born May 11, 1939, in Harrington, to the late Oscar and Florence Hall.
She graduated from Harrington High School in 1957. She was married to the late Woodbury E. Farren of Columbia.
Mona was survived by her three children, Ward Farren and his wife, Valerie, of Boca Raton, Fla., Elmer Farren and his wife, Madeleine, of Clifton, and Amy Kaiser and her husband, Douglas, of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; her 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Cecil Hall of Steuben, Constance Smith of Bangor, and Leon Hatt of Harrington. She was predeceased by her siblings, Jacqueline Perkins of Deep River, Conn., Oscar Hall Jr. of Portland, and Muriel Foss of Eddington.
Mona was a devoted and loving Mother and a lifelong resident of Downeast. She loved the State of Maine, it’s beauty and the people. When ever she ventured away she would always be eager to return. She loved her family and she loved her community. She served as Tax Collector for the Town of Columbia for many years. She was a devoted and cherished member of Harrington BaptistChurch where she faithfully attended until she was no longer able. She was equally loved by her family in return and she will be greatly missed. She held a special place in her heart for Madeline Jeune of Boston, who spent her childhood summers with her family Downeast and was considered her daughter.
A viewing will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Milbridge, with service at 2 p.m. Friday, at Harrington Baptist Church. At the family’s request in lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in Mona’s memory to the Maine Seacoast Mission.
