BUCKS HARBOR – Georgia M. Day, 85, went peacefully home into the arms of her heavenly Father Feb. 21, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 26, 1928, in Bucks Harbor, the daughter of the late George and Florence (Thompson) Colbeth.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. Georgia loved going to church, reading her Bible, writing poetry, combing the beach for sea glass, Saturday night bean suppers, and most of all, spending treasured moments with her family and friends. Georgia lived the last nine years of her life with her beloved daughter, Vicki, and her son-in-law, Jay Maker. Their home was always filled with abundant love and laughter. She shared 60 years of marriage with her loving husband, the late Victor W. Day.
Georgia was predeceased by her siblings and their wives, Clifford and Elva Colbeth, Alice and Daniel Johnson, Philena and Joe Spencer, Warren and Madeline Colbeth, Marion and Walter Voita, and Helen Colbeth. She was also predeceased by her first born, Larry Day, at the tender age of 21; and a daughter in law, Debra (Polk) Day. She is survived by her children, Wade Day and his wife, Claire, Vicki (Day) Maker and her husband, Jay, Brian Day and his wife, Deborah, William Day and his wife, MaryEllen, all of Bucks Harbor. She is also survived by 13 loving grandchildren, Matthew and his wife, Toshia, Jayson, Lindsay, Jarad, Ryan and his wife, Ashley, Ashley and her husband, Josh, Jillian, Emily, Lydia, Michelle and her husband, Curtis, Lee and his wife, Stacy, Wayne and his wife, Amber , and Christopher and his wife, Hillary; and 15 great-grandchildren, Brandon, Breanna, Joey, Kaiden, Presley, David, Matthew, Jackson, Austin, Gavin, Michael, Felicia, Shane, Liam and Aiden; and special nieces, nephews, and cousins who she lovingly adored. Georgia touched the lives of many with her wonderful sense of humor, sweet compassion and unwavering faith. On behalf of the family, much love and gratitude is extended to the compassionate hospice team who Georgia loved dearly.
A celebration of Georgia’s life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at Larrabee Baptist Church, Machiasport.
