FARMINGTON, Maine — A man recently found guilty of sexually abusing a minor is facing an additional charge after allegedly confronting the victim’s family in court, police said.

John Fahnley, 57, was found guilty in Farmington Superior Court on Friday, according to Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols.

As Fahnley was being escorted out of court and back to jail after the hearing, Fahnley saw his victim and family members sitting in the courtroom and stated, “I hope you are happy” as he walked by, Nichols said.

That act violated Fahnley’s conditions of release not to have contact with the victim or family members, Nichols said.

Fahnley was charged with violation conditions of release as a result, and will face that charge on April 8 in Superior Court.
