BANGOR, Maine — An Aroostook County man arrested last year outside a Presque Isle bar after he pointed a pistol at a bouncer pleaded guilty Monday in U.S. District Court to a gun charge.

Wayne E. Boulier Jr., 33, of Presque Isle admitted to being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to information filed on the court system’s electronic case filing system.

Boulier was in Bou’s Brew Pub on Main Street the night of April 6, 2013, according to the prosecution version of events to which he pleaded guilty. A bouncer escorted Boulier to the door and Boulier fell onto the sidewalk outside the bar.

“When the defendant fell he pulled up his shirt and pulled out a pistol,” the prosecution version said. “A bar patron and a second bouncer restrained the defendant and took the pistol from [him].”

Boulier told arresting officers that he had the Glock .40-caliber pistol for protection.

He faces a mandatory minimum of 15 years in prison and a maximum of life due to his extensive criminal history. A dozen felony convictions in Maine and Connecticut that included charges of burglary, escape and assault in the past 14 years were listed in court documents.

A sentencing date has not been set.

Boulier has been held without bail since his arrest.

He was indicted by the Aroostook County grand jury in May on charges of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of a firearm in a liquor establishment, reckless conduct, two counts of unlawful possession of scheduled drugs and violation of conditions of release in connection with the incident at the bar.

A felony charge of domestic violence assault from an unrelated incident also is pending in Aroostook County Superior Court, District Attorney Todd Collins said Monday. Since Boulier pleaded guilty in federal court to the gun charge, similar state charges will be dismissed after Boulier is sentenced in federal court, The drug, bail violation and domestic violence assault charges will be pursued, the prosecutor said.
