He performed in Bangor for the first-ever Waterfront Concert season in 2010; now he comes back to Bangor for a concert in 2014. Country superstar Tim McGraw is set for a Thursday, May 29 concert at Darling’s Waterfront Pavilion, as part of the Machias Savings Bank concert series. Tickets for the concert go on sale on Friday, Feb. 28 at 10 a.m.
Opening for McGraw will be Kip Moore and Cassadee Pope. Tickets are priced between $28.25 and $102.25, and are available online at waterfrontconcerts.com, by calling 1-800-745-3000 or in person at Mark’s Music in Brewer and at any Ticketmaster outlet.
McGraw’s “Sundown Heaven 2014 Tour” will take the singer to 30 cities across the nation, starting on the west coast in early May before moving east. McGraw was nominated for two Grammy awards for his Big Machine Records debut, “Two Lanes of Freedom,” which spawned three back to back number one songs, including the platinum-selling smash hit “Highway Don’t Care” with Taylor Swift, featuring Keith Urban on guitar.
Over the course of his 20-year career, McGraw has sold over 40 million albums and won three Grammys, 15 ACM Awards, 14 CMA Awards and 10 American Music Awards, while simultaneously maintaining a parallel career as a successful actor, in such films as the Oscar-nominated “The Blind Side,” “Country Strong, “Friday Night Lights” and the upcoming Disney production, “Tomorrowland.”
The McGraw concert joins previously announced Waterfront Concerts including the Rise Above Fest on May 10, Celtic Woman on May 30, Brad Paisley on June 15, Willie Nelson and Allison Krauss on June 19, Styx and Foreigner on July 5, Arcade Fire on Aug. 20, Lady Antebellum on Aug. 30 and Jason Aldean on Aug. 31.
