LITTLETON, Maine — A Littleton woman was taken to the hospital after a two-vehicle accident Saturday afternoon, according to information released by the Maine State Police late Saturday evening.

Andrea Carmichael, 34, was southbound on the Front Ridge Road at 3:45 p.m. in a 1987 Chevrolet pickup when she came up behind a 2004 Jeep operated by Ernest Buchalla, 72, of Oakfield stopped in the southbound lane, Sgt. Brian Harris of the Houlton barracks said in the released information.

Carmichael was unable to stop and in swerving to the right to avoid Buchalla’s Jeep she struck a snowbank and the pickup rolled onto its side.

Carmichael was taken by ambulance to Houlton Regional Hospital to have her knee examined, according to Harris, adding her truck sustained significant damage.

Buchalla was not injured and his Jeep was not damaged in the accident, which was investigated by Trooper Jill Monahan.
