LINCOLN – David W. Smart, 69, passed away Feb. 19, 2014, at a Lincoln hospital. He was born May 12, 1944, in Lincoln, the eighth child of Laurence E. and Ethel (Emerson) Smart.
David served as recording secretary of the Maine State Locksmiths Association from 1999 to 2012; was secretary-treasurer of the Gateway Coin Club for over 20 years; was Fire Chief for the Town of Lincoln from 1976 to 1988; and operated and worked at the John Deere Dealership from 1960 to 1982.
He is survived by two daughters, Ursula and Dale Goding and Alison and Glen Porter; two stepsons, Eric Folnsbee and his wife, Fran, and Scott Folnsbee and his wife, Ruby; stepdaughter, Renee Folnsbee; two brothers, Laurence and Quentin; two sisters, Margaret Tismer and Dorothy Holmes; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 20 years, Mary F., as well as three sisters and a brother.
Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, with the Rev. Mark W. York officiating.
