Freezing rain expected to make for slick roads, dangerous driving

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

GRAY, Maine — Shoveling and snowblowing likely won’t be required after the winter storm hitting the state Friday, but roads will likely be slippery.

Periods of light snow are expected to change over to rain and freezing rain throughout the day, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather service has the entire state under a winter weather advisory through 2 p.m.

The storm system is expected to move from southern Maine to northern portions of the state as the day wears on, weather service forecaster Michael Cempa said.

Roads are expected to be slick and drivers are advised to use caution. Less than an inch of accumulating snow is expected.
