CHINA, Maine — A Winslow man was killed Friday morning after his vehicle struck a utility pole on Maple Ridge Road in China, police said.

Jordan Maroon, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene, State Police Lt. Aaron Hayden said. The single-vehicle accident occurred shortly before 4:30 a.m.

Maroon was heading toward Winslow in his Volvo sedan when he skidded on a curve, left the road and struck a utility pole on the driver’s side, Hayden said.

The lieutenant said speed and road conditions are likely a factor in the accident. The crash remains under investigation.

The incident is Maine’s fourth motor vehicle-related fatality since Wednesday.

Accidents in Newburgh and Old Town on Wednesday each claimed lives while another fatal accident was reported in the Lincoln County town of Somerville on Friday morning.
