BANGOR, Maine — A Blue Hill woman is facing multiple drug charges after contraband was found in her purse at the Harlow Street federal building on Feb. 11, police said.

Katie Carter, 27, had something in her purse that a security officer could not identify after the purse went through the x-ray machine, according to Bangor police Sgt. Cathy Rumsey.

After opening the purse to find drug paraphernalia and possible drugs, police were called. The security officer detained Carter until police could arrive.

Officer Dennis Lally and Sgt. Wade Betters responded and identified the drugs as prescription pills for which Carter did not have prescriptions for.

She was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a schedule W drug, unlawful possession of a schedule Z drug and possession of a hypodermic needle, Rumsey said.

She was taken to Penobscot County Jail.
