FORT KENT – Philip S. Bouchard, 85, died February 15, 2014 at Fort Kent. He was born at Fort Kent Mills, June 26, 1928, the son of Steven and Beatrice (Pelletier) Bouchard, the youngest of the family of eight. He attended the Fort Kent Model school and the Madawaska Training school. After working one summer at Marion Rockwell in CT he returned to Fort Kent to work at MTS. In August of 1950 he married Lucille Pelletier from St. John. He was drafted in 1952 during the Korean War. He returned from Korea in 1954 and returned to work at MTS UMFK. He retired in 1986 at Head of Physical Plant, after working 42 years. After retiring, he accepted supervising the construction at UMFK of the addition to Blake Library and also to Cyr Hall. He then supervised the construction of the Acadia Credit Union and the Fort Kent Fire House, and finally the Fort Kent Public Works Garage. He was a former Jaycee member and a member of the Fort Kent Fire Department from 1948 to 1978 and was the Fire Chief the last 11 years. He was a member of the American Legion Martin-Klein Post #0133 and was an active member of the Lozier O’Grady VFW Post #9609 and served as commander for several years. He also served on committees for the St. John Vianney Church and also on some Fort Kent Town committees. He was a Boy Scout supporter. He is survived by his wife Lucille of 63 years; two sons Dr. John Bouchard and his wife Carolyn and David Bouchard and his wife Penny all of Fort Kent: two daughters Dawn Marie Self-Cooper and her husband Joseph of Saco and Susan Deprey and her husband Ruben of Gardiner; two sisters Ann Dalpe of NH and Velma Aubin of VT; eleven grandchildren Jessica Cesal of St. Petersburg, FLA,Philip Self of Lewiston, Benjamin Deprey of Gardiner, Nicholas Bouchard of Columbus, OH, Elizabeth Deprey of Freeport, Christopher Bouchard of Caribou, Whitney Bouchard who is serving in the Air Force currently in the Middle East, Sarah Bouchard of France, Millicent Cooper of Saco, Taylor Bouchard of Fort Kent and Victoria Cooper of Saco: two great grandchildren Jamison Cesal of FLA and Teagan Wendell of Saco and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased his parents, three brothers Harold, Ervan and Edwin Bouchard and two sisters Rella Bernier and Jeanne Plourde Caron. Friends may call 6-8pm Thursday and 9am Friday until time of services at the Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11am Friday, February 21, 2014 at the St. Louis Catholic Church. Spring interment will take place May 5, 2014 at the St. Louis Catholic Cemetery.
