LINCOLN and AUBURN – Ronald M. Boone Sr., 97, husband of Lillian (Phinney) Boone, passed away Feb. 15, 2014, at an Auburn hospice house. He was born Jan. 28, 1917, in Davidson, the son of Harry and Flora (Lane) Boone.
Ronald was a graduate of Mattanawcook Academy and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He and his wife, Lillian owned and operated a dairy farm and then an apple orchard for a period of time that spanned eight decades. He was an active and faithful member of Lincoln United Methodist Church, where he was instrumental in the steeple restoration project and the repairing of the church clock.
He is survived by a son, Ronald Boone Jr. and his wife, Diane, of Auburn; five grandchildren, Bonnie Moore, of Lewiston, Jennifer Noreault, of Lakeville, Minn., Kelly Dymond and Kristen Trundy, both of Turner, and Michael Boone, of Greene; a brother, Clifton, of Rifle, Colo.; a sister, Patricia Blair of Seabrook, N.H.; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents and his wife, Lillian, he was predeceased by a daughter, Bonita Greenberg; and five brothers, Leon, Darrell, George, Glenn and Alby.
Friends may call 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. A graveside service will be held May 24, at Lincoln Cemetery, with the Rev. Roy Richardson officiating.
