PALESTINE, Texas – Betty Lee Broughton, 73, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, in Palestine, Texas. She was born April 26, 1940, in Orono.
Betty worked as a sales associate for TG&Y for many years. She later became a caregiver, helping to raise countless children. Her granddaughters and great-granddaughters were blessed to have spent their early years under her care. She was a faithful member of Memory Lane Baptist Church.
Betty is survived by her brother, Ronald; her son, Anthony Broughton and his wife, Melissa; her granddaughter, Amber Bernauer and husband, Adam; her granddaughter, Andrea Ivins and husband, Heath; as well as her great-grandaughter, Rylee Holden Ivins. She was predeceased by her father, Reginald Sullivan; her mother, Ruth Sullivan; her sisters, Helen Sappier and Barbara Black; and her brother, Dick Sullivan.
The family wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation the expression of love, concern and kindness shown to them during this hour of bereavement. Memorial services for Betty will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, at Bailey & Foster Chapel Palestine, with the Rev. Homer Bentley officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Palestine.
