FARMINGTON, Maine — A Franklin County man was arrested Wednesday after an investigation by sheriff’s deputies revealed he had been sending inappropriate text messages to a teenager.

Zachery Haines, 22, is being held at the Franklin County Jail, according to Sheriff Scott Nichols.

Information was obtained by Detective Stephen Charles by the parent of a juvenile under the age of 16 who had been receiving text messages from Haines containing graphic sexual requests, Nichols said.

The investigation also revealed Haines had physically violated the victim as well.

Haines was arrested on Wednesday and charged with unlawful sexual contact and unlawful sexual touching, the sheriff said.

In an unrelated case, Charles on Wednesday also charged Jeremy Brewer, 26, of Kingfield with unlawful sexual touching after obtaining a referral from the Department of Health and Human Services, Nichols said.

Both men are scheduled to appear in court April 8.
