BENTON, Maine — A Fairfield man escaped injury Monday morning after his sport utility vehicle rolled into an embankment, police said.
Reid Liberty, 24, was heading southbound on Route 100 shortly after 7:30 when he hit a patch of black ice and lost control, according to Chief Deputy Ryan Reardon of the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office.
Reardon said the road was slick due to light snow that fell overnight Sunday.
Upon losing control, Liberty’s vehicle struck a guardrail, went down a the embankment and rolled over.
Liberty was wearing his seat belt, which likely spared him from being seriously injured, the chief deputy said.
Liberty was not transported and his disabled vehicle was towed from the scene.
