BASEBALL

BANGOR — Husson University will hold February break baseball camps for kids ages 7-18. Offensive camp will be held Feb. 17-18; and pitching and defensive camp will be held Feb. 19-20. Offensive covers hitting, bunting, base running and other similar skills. Defensive covers pitching, catching, infield and outfield play and throwing. HAMPDEN — The Hampden/Newburgh/Winterport Bronco Little League Baseball and Softball annual meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 23, at Hampden Town Office. All coaches, prospective volunteers, parents and board members are urged to attend. Little League Baseball and Little League Softball include boys and girls from 7 to 16 years of age. Overview of the organization, get to know new people who have an interest in getting involved and set dates and times for registration and tryouts for all divisions. PRESQUE ISLE — The Northern Maine Board of Approved Baseball Umpires will hold its annual umpire clinic for all prospective umpires at 5:30 p.m. beginning Tuesday, Feb. 25, and run for seven weeks, at Northern Maine Community College in Room 109 of Andrews Hall. BASKETBALL

SOUTHWEST HARBOR — The 22nd annual Great Harbor Shoot-Out basketball tournament will be held Friday-Sunday, March 14-16, at Harbor House Community Service Center. The tournament has more than 80 teams and four divisions that include girls and boys, junior high, and high school basketball teams from all over Maine. Event registration closes Feb. 25. Participants get T-shirts, and winning teams in various divisions get trophies. Proceeds benefit Harbor House. GOLF

BREWER — Brewer Parks & Recreation Department will offer Tee Time Tune-up golf lessons, noon-1 p.m. beginning Thursday, March 13, at Brewer Auditorium Gymnasium. Lessons are designed for players of all levels, from fundamentals to fine-tuning. Instructor will be Mark Hall, PGA professional. Cost is $35 for residents and $45 for non-residents. ROCKPORT — Maine Coast Skaters Youth Hockey Association, Camden Hills Regional High School Hockey boosters, and Midcoast Ice Cats Hockey boosters are gearing up for the 9th annual Hat Trick Auction at 6 p.m. Feb. 7, at Samoset Resort. MidCoast Recreation Center is home ice to more than 180 kids who participate in hockey programs. This auction will help supply ice time, needed equipment, and scholarships for those in need. ROCKPORT — Go! Malawi’s second race of the 5K Race Series is the Luv ME 5K at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at Samoset Resort, 220 Warrenton St. as a kickoff to the group’s annual fund drive. SKIING

ORONO — Black Bear 14K and 4K XC Ski Race, 11 a.m. start, Sunday, Feb. 9. All early entries must be received at Campus Recreation Center, no later than 4 p.m., Feb. 7. BANGOR — The Penobscot Ski Bash will be held 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, at Bangor Municipal Golf Course, 278 Webster Ave. Penobscot Ski Bash is a free, family-focused ski event designed to encourage skiers of all ages and abilities to enjoy cross country skiing. Cross-country skis will be available to rent at no charge. Try out laser biathlon, radar speed skiing, a scavenger hunt, an obstacle course, and more. Hot cider, snacks and a bonfire will be available for those who want to warm up after skiing.This event is a collaboration between the Penobscot Valley Ski Club, Maine Winter Sports Center, and Bangor Parks and Recreation Department. BANGOR— Bangor Parks and Recreation is offering discount lift tickets to Sugarloaf Mountain. One-day tickets for Feb. 8 and two-day tickets for Feb. 8 and 9. No school in-service special on March 14. Sugarloaf opens at 8:30 a.m. on all dates, and you will meet between 8:45 and 9:30 a.m. at the main lodge. One-day adult tickets are $46 per trip; youths ages 6-18 are $36 per trip; and senior citizens age 65 and older, $36 per trip. The two-day prices are $82 for adults, $67 for youths and senior citizens. The March 14 special is $37 adults, $33 youths. Equipment rentals are available at the Parks and Recreation office for $24 if you contact the office ahead of time, or there are rentals available at the mountain for an extra fee. BANGOR — Bangor Parks and Recreation will offer an Outdoor Experience Program at 9:15 a.m. March 14, at Sugarloaf Mountain, for an educational ski or snowboard program. The program is for youths ages 7-18, and will cost $41, which includes a mid-mountain lift ticket, equipment rentals and a 90-minute clinic. You can add a full mountain lift ticket for an extra $10. SOFTBALL

GORHAM — University of Southern Maine Huskies’ softball team and coaching staff will hold a series of four Winter Softball Clinics for softball players ages 8-18 8:30-10:30 a.m. Feb. 9 and March 9, at Costello Sports Complex Fieldhouse in Gorham. Focus on pitching and hitting from fundamentals to advanced techniques. Each clinic $20 per player or $75 for all four clinics. Pitching clinics to feature USM Head Coach Sarah Jamo and her pitching staff; hitting clinics to feature Huskies Assistant Coach Bob Grinnell. WRESTLING

BANGOR — Youth Folkstyle wrestling for grades one-five, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Fridays and 9-11 a.m. Saturdays, Feb. 28-April 12, at Bangor Parks and Recreation, 647 Main St. Athletes will learn the fundamentals of wrestling through instruction, drills, and one-on-one matches with other athletes of similar age and weight.
