Clara L. (Stanley) Cox

MEDWAY – Clara L. (Stanley) Cox, 90, went home to be the Lord Feb. 3, 2014. She passed away peacefully at Millinocket Regional Hospital surrounded by loving family and friends. She was born July 31, 1923, in Medway, daughter of George and Priscilla (Hopkins) Stanley.
Clara, a lifelong resident of Medway, was married to Vinal G. Cox for almost 50 years before his passing. A loving mother and grandmother who always had an open house and a warm meal for any and all, she enjoyed sharing her hospitality. She exemplified independence, kindness, and unselfishness throughout her life. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, traveling, and eating at her favorite restaurant Wing Wah.
She is survived by her siblings, Alton “Tash” Stanley and Norma (Stanley) Kimball; a special daughter, Hannah (York) LaBelle and her husband, Russ, of Canaan; son, Vinal Cox and his wife, Sue, of East Millinocket; daughter-in-law, Patricia (LeBlond) Cox; daughter, Bernadette (Cox) Pray; son, Bruce Cox and his wife, Becky (Boutaugh) Cox, all of Medway; and daughter, Marcia (Cox) Berube and her husband, Ralph, of Millinocket. In addition, she is survived by 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Vinal G. Cox; son, Robert “Bobby” Cox; and son-in-law, Walter “Cookie” Pray. In addition, she was predeceased by her siblings, Beatrice (Stanley) McLaughlin, Earl Stanley and infant twin brother, Otho Stanley, Leon “Rip” Stanley, Carroll Stanley, George “Eddie” Stanley, Eugene Stanley, and John Stanley.
Family and friends may call 4-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at Calvary Temple Assembly of God, 2 Orchard St., East Millinocket. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, at Calvary Temple, with the Rev. Regginal Adams officiating. Spring interment will be at East Millinocket Cemetery.
