Police: Bath salts found in Plymouth man’s car during traffic stop

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

BANGOR, Maine — A Plymouth man was arrested last week on drug charges after Bangor police pulled over a car for erratic driving.

Anthony Barnes, 32, was pulled over on Hammond Street just before 8 p.m. on Jan. 29 after Officer Jermaine Walker noticed he was driving erratically, Bangor police Sgt. Cathy Rumsey said.

As Walker spoke with Barnes, a search of the vehicle turned up drugs that tested positive for the synthetic drug bath salts, according to Rumsey.

The officer placed Barnes under arrest and charged him with possession of Schedule W drugs and violating conditions of release, the sergeant said.
