Brunswick man charged with assaulting girlfriend in front of children

BRUNSWICK, Maine — William Waldron, 39, of Brunswick, was arrested Sunday night after police say he dragged his girlfriend by her hair, kicked and slapped her, and then took her phone when she tried to call for help.

The woman’s two children, 9 and 11 years old, allegedly witnessed the assault, which occurred just before 11 p.m. Sunday, Deputy Chief Marc Hagan of the Brunswick Police Department said Monday.

Waldron remained at Cumberland County Jail on Monday morning, held without bail. He is charged with domestic violence assault, obstructing report of a crime and violation of conditions of release, according to Hagan.
