GARDINER, Maine — A shooting in which an ice fisherman was struck by a stray bullet over the weekend remains under investigation, officials said.

Cpl. John MacDonald of the Maine Warden Service said Monday that the Kennebec County District Attorney’s office is carefully reviewing the case.

Scott Fraley, 54, of Raymond was struck while fishing with friends on the Cobbosseecontee Stream on Sunday. He was treated at a local hospital and released.

Shortly after the shooting, game wardens, State Police and a Maine Marine Patrol officer canvassed the area and found a man with a rifle, Bryan Hickey, 21, of West Gardiner.

MacDonald said the incident is being investigated as a hunting-related shooting, and Hickey is cooperating with authorities.

Charges have yet to be filed in the case.
