BANGOR – John H. Eaton Jr., 51, died unexpectedly, Jan. 27, 2014. He was born July 19, 1962, in Presque Isle, the beloved son of John and Wendy (Ruggles) Eaton and grew up in Bangor attending Bangor schools.
John worked at Goodwill for many years. His leisure passions included building intricate models of planes and rockets and at one time enjoyed radio controlled aircraft models. He was an avid fan of the New England professional sports teams, especially the Boston Bruins. He also would never refuse a trip to anywhere on the coast of Maine or the chances he had to travel to Florida, Charleston, S.C., and Washington, D.C. He was especially close to his Dad and spent many happy hours together. John also greatly enjoyed the company of good friend, Mike Cutler.
In addition to his parents, John is survived by his sister, Denise Copley and her husband, Todd, of Dover, N.H.; his niece, Natalie Copley of Brookline, Mass.; an uncle, Lawrence Eaton and his wife, Martha, of Clayton, N.C.; and several cousins in Massachusetts, New York City and North Carolina. John’s family would like to thank the Bangor Police Department for their help and kindness.
Family and friends may visit 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor, where a service honoring John’s life will be held 3 p.m. as the visitation concludes. Burial will be in the spring. For those who wish, a donation in John’s memory may be made to NAMI of Maine, 1 Bangor St., Augusta, ME 04330.
