NEW LIMERICK, Maine — A Littleton man is facing charges after his vehicle rolled into another car in a convenience store parking lot last week and he failed to report it, according to a law enforcement official.

Chief Deputy Darrell Crandall of the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department said Thursday that the incident occurred on Jan. 22 at the Littleton Pit Stop. Kaitlynn Wellington of New Limerick stopped at the store and left her 2007 Nissan Sentra in the parking lot to commute north with another person.

Crandall said that at approximately 11:30 a.m., Robert Henderson, 45, of Littleton arrived at the store and got out of his vehicle. His vehicle was not in park and traveled about 70 yards, striking Wellington’s parked car, causing about $5,000 in damage to her vehicle. The chief deputy said Thursday evening that he was not sure what type of vehicle Henderson was operating.

Witnesses told police that Henderson looked over the damage, got back into his vehicle and left the area without making contact with anyone or reporting the incident to the police. Sheriff’s deputies were called and tracked Henderson down.

Crandall said that Henderson was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, a Class E crime, a few days after the incident. Henderson’s vehicle had only minor damage.
