SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — Tong Akot scored 22 points to help Southern Maine Community College post a 121-84 Yankee Small College Conference men’s basketball victory over Unity College on Wednesday night.
Jose Nouchanthavong scored 14 points, dished out 11 assists and made seven steals for the Seawolves, while Atencio Martin netted 14 points. Scott Proudman and Davis Nicholson tallied 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Eddie Kopacz tossed in a game-high 27 points to propel Unity. Jared Straight and Jacob Scoville scored 18 points each.
At Standish, junior forward Zach Blodgett of Glenburn scored a career-high 23 rebounds via a 5-for-9 effort from 3-point range and added seven rebounds as the Monks edged the Saints in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest.
Matt Medeiros posted 16 points and Steve Simonds contributed 12 for Saint Joseph’s (10-8, 9-2 GNAC).
Kyle Smith’s 21 points paced Emmanuel (4-14, 2-9 GNAC) while Brandon Jones scored 13, James Sullivan tallied 12 and Alex Myers added 11.
At South Portland, Danielle McCusker scored 18 points and provided six rebounds, six assists and six steals as the Seawolves cruised to a Yankee Small College Conference win over the Rams.
Esther Palmieri registered 14 points and nine assists, Nyalieb Deng logged 11 points and 11 steals and Zyrah Giustra chipped in with 10 points and seven rebounds.
Candace Robinson led Unity College with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
