MMA women beat UMPI for 6th straight win

CASTINE, Maine — Rebekah Campbell scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds Tuesday night as Maine Maritime Academy earned a 68-57 women’s basketball victory over the University of Maine-Presque Isle.

It was the sixth consecutive win for the 10-6 Mariners, who received 12 points from Ashley Shine and nine points from Cheyenne Malloy.

Olivia McNally paced the Owls (12-5) with 16 points and Rebecca Campbell netted 13. Darby Toth added nine points.

Bowdoin 85, Husson 50

At Brunswick, the Polar Bears shot 52 percent from the field en route to the win over the Eagles.

Selena Lorrey scored 11 points and Sara Binkhorst netted 10 for Bowdoin College (17-2), while Kirsten Prue handed out 11 assists.

Samira Cruz led Husson University of Bangor (8-8) with 15 points.

Men’s Basketball

Colby 76, MMA 41

At Castine, Ryan Jann tossed in 17 points and Chris Hudnut provided a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds as the Mules cruised to victory.

Sam Wilson posted 15 points and seven rebounds for Colby College of Waterville (9-8). Patrick Stewart registered nine points, 14 rebounds and five assists.

Kyle Boucher’s 13 points paced Maine Maritime Academy (1-15) and Tyler Gilson provided 10 points.

Bowdoin 106, Thomas 42

At Waterville, Andrew Madlinger’s 17 points headed a balanced performance that carried the Polar Bears to the win.

Matt Mathias (5 assists) and Lucas Hausman contributed 15 points each for Bowdoin College of Brunswick (16-1), while Neil Fuller and Keegan Pieri added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Mike Akanji led Thomas College (6-11) with eight points.
