BUCKSPORT – Patricia (Fellows) Berry, 71, passed away Jan. 24, 2014, at a Bangor hospital surrounded by the love of her family. She was born April 22, 1942, in Bangor, to Frank Fellows and Marianne (Russell) Fellows.

She attended Bucksport schools where she was a cheerleader and First Honor Essayist of her beloved graduating class of 1960. She graduated from the University of Maine where she was proud to be a Chi Omega. She then married Thomas W. Berry, the boy she loved since she was 15 years old. They would have been married 50 years this June 21st.

Patty loved to feed people. Spaghetti suppers for the high school football team, full Thanksgiving feasts that she would drive all the way to the Delta Chi fraternity house in Gorham to deliver and Saturday night suppers in the Berry Compound where all of her family and their friends were welcome were her favorites.

She will be long remembered by many for her years at the Crooker Insurance Agency. She was a den mother, basketball coach, Little League officer and lifeguard at the Town pool. She was a teacher’s aide and tutor at the Orland School where she loved her students and the staff and spoke fondly and often of them. She was an avid reader and gardener and had a wicked sense of humor and her knowledge of sports made her the go-to for trivia questions. She always preferred to listen to the “games” on the radio. She was pretty cool. She loved her family and they will miss her very much.

Patty is survived by Tom and their children and spouses, Chris and Esther, Frank and Rebecca and Jane and Stephan. She will forever be “Nannie” to her grandchildren, Thomas, Sarah, Jakob, Evan and Guinevere; her three sisters, Fran and her husband, Jim Willard, and Martha and Ann Fellows; as well as their children, Lisa, Julie, Jon, Will and Dan.

The family would like to thank the compassionate care of the incredible staff in the I.C.U. at Eastern Maine Medical Center.

In lieu of flowers, Please send donations in her memory to the ambulance crew who always went beyond the call of duty to care for her. Bucksport Fire & Rescue Association, P.O. Box 1848, Bucksport, ME 04416. Arrangements are under the direction of Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home and Cremation Services. www.mitchelltweedie-young.com.
