Louise S. Moore

BAR HARBOR – Louise Schoppee Moore, lovingly known as Aunta Beese, 98, passed away Jan. 23, 2014, at Mount Desert Island Hospital. She was born Sept. 1, 1915, the daughter of Nathan F. and Ella C. Schoppee in Machias.

She grew up in Machias graduating from Machias Memorial High School. Her family owned and operated Schoppee’s Dairy. She and her brothers helped with running the dairy and delivering milk.

Louise married the love of her life, Raymond E. Moore of Bar Harbor, on Dec. 12, 1936. They started the Moore Oil Company delivering oil in Bar Harbor and also ran an Esso gas station and Hertz Rent A Car. She was a member of St. Saviour’s Episcopal Church and Eastern Star. Louise and Ray loved going for walks around the island taking beautiful pictures that she loved to share as slide shows.

Louise is survived by her nieces, Nancy S. Roach and husband, Jon, of Orland, Joanne Torrey and husband, Tom, of Ohio, and Elaine Barton and husband, Mike, of California; her nephew, Nathan P. Schoppee and wife, Gynell, of Bangor; her great-nieces, Janine P. Blaine and husband, Bill, of Marshfield, Debbie P. Christiansen and husband, Todd, of Glenburn, Vicki R. Milan and husband, Dave, of Orland, and Anne R. Payne and husband, Ken, of Texas; her great-nephews, Charles Roach of Texas, Ryan Schoppee and wife, Laurie, of Bucks Harbor, and Glenn Smith and wife, Claudette, of Bar Harbor; her special friends, Mollie Frost and Mary Burnard; along with many other family members and friends.

Louise was predeceased by her husband, Raymond on Dec. 15, 1980; a son at birth; her brothers, Charles and Julian Schoppee; niece, Elaine S. Plante; nephew, Kenneth P. Schoppee; and great-nephew, Nathan R. Schoppee.

At her request a springtime graveside service will be held for Louise in Mariaville.
