PORTLAND, Maine — A 24-year-old man was rushed to the hospital after suffering from an apparent gunshot early Tuesday morning outside Sangillo’s Tavern on Hampshire Street in Portland.

Officers went to an area near the tavern at 18 Hampshire St. in response to a report of gunshots, according to a Portland Police Department news release. They found the wounded man, who has not been identified, and immediately sent him for treatment at Maine Medical Center.

He is in stable condition, according to police.

Police are interviewing several witnesses and potential suspects. No arrest related to the shooting had been made as of late Tuesday morning.
