One dead in two-vehicle accident on Route 9

EDDINGTON, Maine — A head-on collision Monday morning claimed the life of an Eddington woman, according to police.

The 47-year-old woman, whose named was not disclosed, was heading eastbound on Route 9 shortly before 6 a.m. when she collided with a 43-year-old Cutler man heading westbound, according to Sgt. Roy Peary of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.

The other man’s name also was not released, Peary said.

The accident took place just west of the intersection with Rook Road, according to Peary. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene while the man was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center with undisclosed injuries.

The drivers were the lone occupants in each vehicle, said Peary. The identities of the drivers were expected to be released on Tuesday.
