EAGLE LAKE – Joan M. Berube, 79, died peacefully Jan. 25, 2014, surrounded by her family at an Eagle Lake health care facility. She was born Dec. 3, 1934, in Eagle Lake, the daughter of Abel and Delphine (Bouley) St. Germain.
A few of Joan’s favorite pastimes were, playing guitar, knitting, crocheting, gardening and making puzzles. She loved family gatherings and truly enjoyed the company of friends, her home was open to all who would come. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Michael and his wife, Kerry Berube, of Stafford, Va.; and six daughters, Diana and her husband, Oreen Saucier, of Conner, Mary Ann Hafford of Torrington, Conn., Linda Saucier of Eagle Lake, Sharon Berube of Presque Isle, Donna and her husband, Scott Pelletier, of Eagle Lake, and Cathy and her husband, Mark Michaud, of Fort Kent. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; three brothers, Norman St. Germain of Florida, Caroll St. Germain of New Hampshire, and Donald St. Germain of Eagle Lake; one sister, Theresa Daigle of Eagle Lake; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her husband, Lester in 2011; and by a son-in-law, Tony Saucier.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, and 9-10:15 a.m. Wednesday, at Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Eagle Lake. Committal service will be held May 8, at the parish cemetery.
