Helaine C. Allen

SEDGWICK – Helaine Charlotte Allen, 86, passed away Jan. 22, 2014, at her home in Sedgwick, with her husband by her side surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 12, 1927, in Brooklin.

Helaine married Wayne Allen Nov. 13, 1952. She devoted her life to raising her seven children and supporting her husband with his family business. Helaine loved cooking, sewing, gardening, dancing and traveling. She especially enjoyed her trips to the YMCA. She also treasured her many pets. She looked forward to spending her winters in Florida. Most of all she loved being a mother and grandmother.

Helaine is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Wayne of Sedgwick; special brother, Prin Allen Jr. of Brooklin; her adoring sons, John Allen and wife, Getti, Paul Allen and partner, Janie Greenlaw, Eric Allen and wife, Joan, Spencer Allen and wife, Susan, and Tom Allen; her devoted daughters, Ruth Allen-Gray and husband, Darrell, and Trude Beardsworth and husband, Jeffrey; grandchildren, Patrick Allen and wife, Monica, Shadi Allen and husband, Chad Seiler, Eben Allen, Golnar Allen and husband, Robard Williams, Hannah Williams and husband, Brett, Simeon Allen and wife, Alyssa, Natasha Allen and love, Joshua Clough, Brandon Allen and fiancée, Meaghan Gray, Colby Allen and fiancée, Sophia Louis, Sadie Beardsworth and love, Jesse Carter, Madeline Gray, Sidney Beardsworth and Cora Gray; great-grandchildren, Lily, Zachary, Gavin, Gabriel, Leila and Jonah; as well as her extended family and treasured friends. She was predeceased by first husband, Staff Sergeant John Walker; sister, Elizabeth Allen; and her best friend and sister, Elise Gray. The family sends a huge thanks to special friends and care givers, Rachel Munson, Angie Tobey, Amy Nowland, and all the Blue Hill Memorial Hospital staff.

A celebration of Helaine’s life will be held 1 p.m. Feb. 1, at the Blue Hill Congregational Church. A graveside committal service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations to be made to The SPCA of Hancock County, 141 Bar Harbor Road, Trenton, ME 04605; or the North Sedgwick Baptist Church, 155 North Sedgwick Road, Sedgwick, ME 04676.
